Has love been here all along
Despite the barriers I’ve kept?
As though I needed protection from something so beautiful.
The walls I built kept me contained
But also restrained.
Now I sit
Head in hands
Wondering at the thousand-year loss,
Pondering what has passed.
The protection was not from me
But for me
While I healed,
To this moment of readiness
For that which has stood before me all along.
