A Poem A Day – Emotion in Inanimate

A story a day.
A poem a day.
Here’s a few lines, along with the prompt:

Format: Poem
Prompt: describe an emotion through something inanimate…but do not name that emotion.

If the barn could
it would
weep, no seep,
squeezing memories out
as if re-creating sap.
As if it were still a tree
giving back life,
offering something not only wanted,
not only needed,
but required
by another.

(inspired from Steve Fulton‘s song about the old barn)
